What The Third Chair is, what it is not, and the boundaries for using Solo Clarity and Shared Conversation.

What The Third Chair is
The Third Chair is a communication-clarity and structured-reflection tool with two modes: private Solo Clarity preparation and mutual-consent Shared Conversation review. It can help people prepare or revisit communication, but it does not determine truth, blame, intent, abuse, or relationship outcomes.
Solo Clarity
In Solo Clarity, the signed-in user privately submits their own content for structured reflection and message preparation. It may be used to prepare a message, boundary, apology, request, or difficult interaction.
No second-party consent is required because only the author's own content is submitted. Solo content is author-only and does not automatically become part of Shared Conversation history or reports.
Shared Conversation
Shared Conversation takes place in a couple space. Recording and analysis require the applicable participant consent. Conversation intentions remain author-owned, and private reflections remain author-only and are not analyzed.
A shared clarity report is generated only after both partners provide the required mutual consent for that conversation.
What The Third Chair is not
The Third Chair is not, and is not a substitute for:
- therapy, counseling, or mental-health treatment;
- medical advice, diagnosis, or clinical assessment;
- legal advice, legal representation, or custody evaluation;
- financial advice;
- crisis response, emergency support, or safety planning;
- forensic assessment, expert opinion, or evidence;
- abuse investigation, adjudication, or a finding of fact.
If you need any of these, seek an appropriately qualified professional or service.
Lawful, consensual recording is your responsibility
You are responsible for ensuring that any recording you make or upload is lawful where you are and that everyone being recorded has freely agreed. Recording laws and consent requirements vary by location; you must know and follow the rules that apply to you.
You must not use The Third Chair for covert recording or to pressure someone into recording, reviewing, or analyzing a conversation.
AI-generated responses and reports
Solo Clarity responses and Shared Conversation clarity reports are AI-generated communication-reflection outputs. They may be incomplete or mistaken. They are not factual findings, professional judgments, or evidence, and they do not determine who is right.
Do not rely on these outputs for legal, custody, medical, financial, crisis, emergency, or other high-stakes decisions.
Safety and prohibited misuse
Do not use The Third Chair for covert recording, coercion, stalking, harassment, threats, intimidation, surveillance, retaliation, evidence-building, or any unsafe relationship situation. Do not use it to monitor, pressure, frighten, punish, or build a case against another person.
If taking part, declining, or stopping could put someone at risk, do not use the service for that interaction. The Third Chair does not provide crisis response or emergency assistance.
Service and terms updates
