The Third Chair is in private testing. This page is written in plain language for testers and is not a final, attorney-reviewed legal document. It may change as the product develops.
What The Third Chair is
The Third Chair is a relationship communication and reflection tool. It gives two consenting partners a neutral space to revisit a conversation they've already had and to read a calm, framework-informed reflection on what was said and what was heard. It is meant to support your own understanding — nothing more.
What The Third Chair is not
The Third Chair is not, and is not a substitute for:
- therapy, counseling, or any mental-health treatment;
- medical advice or diagnosis;
- legal advice or legal representation;
- crisis response or emergency support;
- custody evaluation or any family-court assessment;
- forensic assessment or expert opinion;
- abuse investigation, adjudication, or a finding of fact.
If you need any of these, please seek a qualified professional or the appropriate service.
Lawful, consensual recording is your responsibility
You are responsible for ensuring that any recording you make or upload is lawful where you are and that everyone being recorded has freely agreed. Recording laws vary by location, and consent requirements differ — it is up to you to know and follow the rules that apply to you.
You must not use The Third Chair for covert or secret recording, or for coercion, stalking, harassment, threats, intimidation, surveillance, or any situation where a person might feel unsafe or pressured. Using the app this way is a misuse of it.
About the reflections and reports
Clarity reports are AI-generated, reflective summaries. They are prompts for your own conversation — not factual findings, evidence, professional judgments, or determinations of who is right. They can be incomplete or mistaken.
Do not rely on a report for legal, custody, divorce, criminal, financial, medical, or emergency decisions. It is not designed or validated for any of those purposes.
Private testing
The Third Chair is currently offered for private testing. Features, data handling, and these terms may change, and the service may be paused or discontinued. Please don't depend on it for anything important while it is in testing.
